Icarus vs Muzak is the continuation of the successful experience of Icarus Junior, the youth ensemble founded by Icarus Ensemble in 2007, which performed in San Francisco (Spring Festival of the Bay Area), at the 2009 Zagreb Biennale, in Dijon, Cairo and Alexandria in Egypt, Belfort, as well as in many Italian cities.

In 2017, a residency began at the Brera Academy, still ongoing, in collaboration with Amici di Musica/Realtà, resulting in the Suono e Arte festival, for which the ensemble oversees the artistic direction. In 2018, Icarus vs Muzak represented Brera Academy within a MIUR project promoted by the Ministry of Cultural Heritage in Venice. In 2020, the ensemble took part as a partner in RIGENERA, with a program dedicated to the relationship between Music and Architecture. The ensemble won the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs call Vivere all’Italiana in Musica for the promotion of Italian music worldwide. In 2021, it participated in Days of Macedonian Music in Skopje with a program of Italian and Macedonian repertoire.

n 2022, in collaboration with ROPA (Roberto Olivan Performing Art), the ensemble presented four performances of the ballet Gold at Mercat de les Flors: Casa de la Dansa in Barcelona. It also undertook a five-concert tour in Mexico, including the Cervantino Festival in Guanajuato, the Foro Internacional de Música Manuel Enríquez at the Palacio de Bellas Artes, the Centro Nacional de las Artes in Mexico City, and the Festival Internacional de Santa Lucía in Monterrey. At the Gaida Festival in Vilnius, the ensemble presented a monographic program dedicated to Salvatore Sciarrino featuring Paesaggi con macerie, a new work expressly commissioned with the support of the Siemens Foundation. Among its multimedia productions are the video Rigenera, devoted to the relationship between Music and Architecture; Electromuzak, focused on cutting-edge electronics and multimedia; Codice incanto, winner of a MAECI call; and three CDs dedicated to the presence of antiquity in contemporary music, released by Da Vinci.
