/// PHANTOMS OF EXISTENCE [audiovisual performance] explores the mutable essence of memory, where the past's presence is a quiet echo in our current lives. Through a sequence of light and sonic elements, the project charts a path from lucid, sharp beginnings to the hazy whispers of memory's end. It's an introspective venture that examines the contrasts within our recollections and the intangible threads that weave our sense of self. The piece represents its abstraction as a personal journey against the universal backdrop of time's passage, giving the viewer a canvas for projecting personal interpretations and exploring the subjective experience of time and self.
Alex Guevara is a digital artist born in Lima, Peru, in 1986, and currently based in Berlin. His artistic language is deeply rooted in the audiovisual field and in the exploration of the interaction between sound, light, and video elements. With a wide range of skills spanning interaction design, interactive installations, generative design, and real-time audio-video processing, Guevara combines art, science, and technology to create immersive and astonishing landscapes where the digital and organic blend together.
In his most recent works, the dynamic and fluid nature of the visuals, intertwined with constantly evolving soundscapes, aim to convey a sense of perpetual movement and impermanence. They invite the audience to reflect on the transitory nature of experience and, more broadly, on the elusive and ephemeral nature of existence itself, stripped of any unnecessary elements and presented in its essence of change and transformation. His works have been presented at some of the most important international festivals and artistic research centers, such as Berlin Art Week, Mutek in Montreal, CCCB in Barcelona, Asia Digital Art Exhibition in Beijing, and many others.
