CAMERON NAYLOR /// FOXGLOVE

Created from sounds of a tree isolated from its typical natural environment, this piece explores a heightened sense of scale resulting from extremely close recording techniques, reframing minuscule natural processes as functions of a great ever-growing entity. Here almost imperceptible sounds are magnified, becoming part of a series of vast and enveloping spaces interior and exterior to the tree.

Cameron Naylor is an electroacoustic composer and sound artist. Through the manipulation of field recording and abstract sound material, his compositions explore sound and space as a metaphor in musical storytelling. His research interests focus on exploring the dramatic potential of sound in a variety of formats.

TASOS ASONITIS /// EXHIBITS

"Exhibits" introduces us to a fictional gallery where products of human intellect meet their xenomorphic counterparts, created by AI. The shape of the forms is turned into sound; a dialogue unfolds, where the two worlds collide while sinking deeper and deeper into a vortex of bilateral exchange and hybridization. The human versus the algorithmic, the familiar versus the xenomorphic until "versus" makes no sense anymore, and dichotomies melt into a space of infinite possibilities and identities.

Tasos Asonitis is a sonic and audiovisual artist whose activities encompass various facets of digital arts. His primary interest is on fictional virtual environments that can be described by the creative entanglement of computer generated music and 3D graphics. Asonitis' artistic output however is not limited to the audiovisual domain, and includes multi-channel fixed media pieces, sonic installations and compositions for moving image. He is part of the UnSupervised artists collective, a practice-led research group that merges AI and music. His works have been exhibited at the People’s History Museum (Manchester, UK), Athens Digital Arts Festival, Science and Industry Museum (Manchester, UK), METS Fest (Cuneo, Italy) and presented in renowned conferences like ICMC (International Computer Music Conference - 2023), AIMC (International Conference on AI and Musical Creativity - 2023) and xCoAx (9th Conference on Computation, Communication, Aesthetics and X - 2021). Recipient of the EPSRC doctoral scholarship, he is currently a PhD candidate on Electroacoustic Composition at NOVARS Research Center, at the University of Manchester.

KASSEL JAEGER [FR/CH] /// LIVE ELECTRONICS

François J. Bonnet is a Franco-Swiss composer and electroacoustic musician based in Paris. In addition to being the Director of INA GRM, François J. Bonnet is also a writer and theoretician: his books “The Order of Sounds: A Sonorous Archipelago”, “The Infra-World”, and "After Death” are published in English by Urbanomic. He is also the author of the manifesto “The Music to Come”, published by Shelter Press in 2020, and the co-editor of the “SPECTRES” series of publications, a joint project of INA GRM and Shelter Press. As a musician, Bonnet often works under the project name Kassel Jaeger. He has collaborated with artists such as Oren Ambarchi, Stephen O’Malley, Jim O’Rourke, Akira Rabelais or Gisèle Vienne. Kassel Jaeger’s works are a complex balance between concrète experimentalism, ambient noise, and electroacoustic improvisation. He has released several albums on labels such as Shelter Press, Black Truffle, Editions Mego, Senufo Editions, etc. While his own music has been played in renowned venues and festivals all over the world, François J. Bonnet has been working closely with groundbreaking composer and electronic music pioneer Eliane Radigue, and has been performing regularly her electronic music in concert.

⊕ MA/IN academy
It is part of a comprehensive program dedicated to training and education in contemporary music on multiple levels and for various target groups. The offerings include content for a general audience, such as lecture-concerts by Luca Iavarone, who will annually delve into different periods of electronic music history from the 20th century to today. Additionally, there will be talks with artists, listening introductions, and concerts commemorating the centenaries of significant composers. For high school music students, the program includes masterclasses with artists to introduce them to the creative process, allowing active participation in certain project activities. Students from partner Conservatories will also be involved in a training path, where they will engage with important composers to create electroacoustic compositions to be presented within the MA/IN project. A specialized track is designed for selected young composers through an international call, offering them an advanced course for presenting their works in world premieres.

⊕ LIGETI100
It is a tribute to the music of György Ligeti, a Hungarian composer often regarded as one of the greatest composers of 20th century music. The year 2023 marks a century of Ligeti.
