LUCA IAVARONE + ALBERTO GATTI [IT] /// Disordinata storia dell’elettronica (Vol. 2)
Is it possible today to compose new music? Can new musical instruments be invented or sounds created from scratch? And can technology assist us in these challenges? These are some of the questions that pioneers of electronic music have asked themselves. What we mean by electronic music? How should it be listened to? Is it meant for dancing or not? Is it music or noise? And why should I sit in a room, maybe in the dark, and listen to strange sounds emanating from one or more speakers?
These are the questions that we will explore together with Luca Iavarone (journalist and creative) and Alberto Gatti (composer) in “Disordinata storia dell’elettronica” ("An Unordered History of Electronics"), a series of meetings aimed at presenting electronic music from a different perspective, without technicalities and complex philosophies. In the second meeting, we will delve into the connection between the origins of electronic music and the contemporary scene, with a special focus on Ligeti. Ligeti... Who? Exactly, that's the point – see you at the meeting!
Lige… Chi? Ecco, appunto, ci vediamo all’incontro!

⊕ MA/IN academy
It is part of a comprehensive program dedicated to training and education in contemporary music on multiple levels and for various target groups. The offerings include content for a general audience, such as lecture-concerts by Luca Iavarone, who will annually delve into different periods of electronic music history from the 20th century to today. Additionally, there will be talks with artists, listening introductions, and concerts commemorating the centenaries of significant composers.
For high school music students, the program includes masterclasses with artists to introduce them to the creative process, allowing active participation in certain project activities. Students from partner Conservatories will also be involved in a training path, where they will engage with important composers to create electroacoustic compositions to be presented within the MA/IN project.
A specialized track is designed for selected young composers through an international call, offering them an advanced course for presenting their works in world premieres.
