“Time, space and structure.Finding a personal artistic approach to the composition of electronic music.”

ROBERT HENKE is a composer, artist, and software developer, best known for his contributions to electronic music and his work with laser light. His audiovisual installations are created using custom-made software and explore the delicate balance between determination and randomness to create complex behaviors and infinite variations in expression.

His musical production ranges from ambient to contemporary music, but under the long-term name/project Monolake, he is known as one of the icons of Berlin's club culture. He is one of the main creators of Ableton Live, a software that has become a standard in music production and has completely redefined the live performance of electronic music.

He writes and lectures on the creative use of computers and holds teaching positions at CCRMA / Stanford University, IRCAM, and the Studio National des Arts Contemporains – Le Fresnoy in Lille, France. His works have been showcased at the Tate Modern in London, the Centre Pompidou in Paris, the Palazzo delle Esposizioni in Rome, Le Lieu Unique in Nantes, PS-1 in New York, MUDAM in Luxembourg, MAK in Vienna, Palazzo Grassi in Venice, the Art Gallery of New South Wales in Australia, KW Institute for Contemporary Art in Berlin, STRP Biennale in Eindhoven, and numerous festivals, including Unsound, CTM, MUTEK, Sonar, and the New Forms Festival.
