In the case of music\, for most of its (Western) history\, it belongs to the first category\, since\, like theater and dance\, it is a performative art that can only “exist” through being performed and interpreted.However\, particularly from the time of John Cage\, the body and its interactions with the surrounding environment began to attract theoretical and practical attention\, going beyond mere execution or interpretation of a score and opening up a new\, unprecedented performative dimension.When it comes to the “performative turn” in music\, the Fluxus composers remain an essential reference. Their work is characterized by a constant blending of different expressive media. The members of Fluxus were driven by a desire to creatively engage with the world—its contradictions\, illusions\, and chaos—while always emphasizing live\, performative interaction with the audience. \nGiacomo Fronzi /// is an Associate Professor of Aesthetics and Aesthetics of the Performing Arts at the University of Bari Aldo Moro. He holds degrees in Philosophy from the University of Lecce and in Musicology from Ca’ Foscari University of Venice\, and earned a PhD in Ethics and Philosophical Anthropology from the University of Salento in 2008 with a thesis entitled Between Relation and Relativism: Aspects of Twentieth-Century Thought. Graduate in piano from the “T. Schipa” Conservatory in Lecce\, Fronzi has developed an interdisciplinary profile combining philosophy\, music\, and aesthetics. His main research interests include contemporary aesthetics\, philosophy of music\, and the critical thought of Theodor W. Adorno. He is the author of over eighty publications\, including seven monographs\, and has edited volumes on electroacoustic music\, contemporary aesthetic experiences\, and musical criticism. He has collaborated with institutions such as Teatro Petruzzelli\, Teatro San Carlo\, and Teatro alla Scala\, contributing to program notes and participating in international conferences. Fronzi is also active in cultural broadcasting\, having worked with RSI and Rai Radio3 as a host and music expert. For the Enciclopedia della Musica 1900–2015 (Treccani)\, he has written entries on “Revolutions and Music\,” “Experimental Music\,” and “Protest Song.” He is a member of the National Board of the Italian Society of Aesthetics (SIE) and has participated in numerous research and teaching projects in aesthetics and philosophy. \n\n\n\n\n⊕ MA/IN academy\nis a structured program dedicated to training and education in contemporary music\, multi-level and multi-target: the offering for the general public includes Luca Iavarone’s lecture-concerts\, in which he presents each year a period in the history of electronic music from the 20th century to today; talks with artists and listening introductions; and concerts dedicated to the centenaries of some great composers. The proposal for students of music high schools includes masterclasses with selected artists to introduce them to the creative process and active participation in some project activities. The involvement of students from the partner conservatories consists of a training path that allows them to work directly with important composers in the creation of electroacoustic compositions to be presented within MA/IN. Finally\, there is an advanced program for young composers selected through the international call for the presentation of their works in world premiere.

Through archival materials\, images\, texts and contributions by artists and scholars\, the volume reflects on a decade of research into sound\, audiovisual experimentation and contemporary artistic practices. Conceived not only as a record of past editions but also as a tool for interpreting the festival’s evolving identity\, the catalogue brings together memory and present-day perspectives within a shared editorial framework. The presentation will bring together multiple voices to introduce the catalogue and retrace the process behind its development\, from the selection and organisation of materials to the coordination of contributions and the overall editorial approach. \nAntonio Mastrogiacomo + Ambra Benvenuto /// Antonio Mastrogiacomo teaches pedagogy at the Academy of Fine Arts in Reggio Calabria. His research explores the relationship between critical pedagogy\, media activism\, and artistic practices\, with a particular focus on sound and contemporary music. He is a multimedia artist\, journalist\, and editor-in-chief of the journal «d.a.t.».\nAmbra Benvenuto is a journalist\, junior architect\, and PhD candidate in Visual and Media Studies. Her research focuses on enhancing cultural heritage through augmented reality\, bringing together aesthetics and architecture.\nThey are curators and editors for Il Sileno Edizioni’s «Musica_XXI» series. Together\, they developed and edited the catalogue celebrating ten years of MA/IN and the program for the current edition\, overseeing its structure\, contributions\, and overall editorial direction. \n\n\n\n\n⊕ MA/IN academy: is a structured program dedicated to training and education in contemporary music\, multi-level and multi-target: the offering for the general public includes the new educational trilogy curated by Giacomo Fronzi—which follows the previous trilogy on the history of electroacoustic music by the duo Iavarone/Gatti—the presentation of the 10th edition festival catalog curated by Antonio Mastrogiacomo and Ambra Benvenuto\, talks with artists\, listening introductions\, and concerts dedicated to the centenaries of some great composers. Moving from the distinction between the performative\, performativity\, and performance\, we gradually approached the so-called “performative turn” of the 1960s\, focusing on how it played out within music. In the second meeting\, we will focus above all on one of the undisputed protagonists of that era\, John Cage. After reconstructing his biography\, we will focus on some essential milestones of his output\, as well as the role he played in the development of the performing arts in the second half of the twentieth century. In addition to Cage\, we will also frame other central figures of the musical landscape of those decades: George Brecht\, Nam June Paik\, and La Monte Young. \nGiacomo Fronzi /// is Associate Professor at the University of Bari Aldo Moro\, where he teaches Aesthetics\, Aesthetics of the Performing Arts\, and Aesthetics of Music. He holds degrees in Philosophy (Lecce) and Musicology (Venice)\, a PhD in Philosophy\, and a diploma in Piano. He is the author of around one hundred publications\, eight of which are monographs. His main books include Theodor W. Adorno. Pensiero critico e musica\, Philosophical Considerations on Contemporary Music\, Electrosound. Storia ed estetica della musica elettroacustica\, Percorsi musicali del Novecento. Storie\, personaggi\, poetiche da Schönberg a Sciarrino\, and Performance. Un itinerario filosofico e storico-artistico. For Treccani’s Enciclopedia della musica contemporanea\, he wrote the entries “Rivoluzioni e musica\,” “Musica sperimentale\,” “Razzismo e musica\,” and “Canzone di protesta.” He writes program notes for concert organizations and institutions\, and has contributed to the newspaper Il Manifesto and to Micromega. Duni” di Matera (classi di composizione e musica elettronica); coordinamento: M° Roberto Vetrano \n\n/// The word Changüí is a common expression in Rioplatense lunfardo (the slang traditionally spoken in Argentina and Uruguay)\, referring to an advantage\, a benefit\, a concession. In this work\, the gestures and sonic materials produced by the violin are gradually taken up\, extended\, and transformed by the electronics\, which offer them a kind of “second chance” or continuation: changüí becomes a musical metaphor. Rather than merely imitating the instrument\, the electronics establish a dialogue with it\, opening up an additional space for expression. [Rocío Cano Valiño]\nFrises focused on the idea of one historical ostinato variation form. The first part “Frise jaune” is a prelude\, a flexible improvisation around a constant D\, coloured by harmonics and the electronic part consisting of bell sounds. This part is also inspired by the idea of carillon. The second part “Frise de fleurs” is based on a harmony created on a ground bass. Sequences of successive chords are gradually enriched before opening to achieve a more free and lyrical development. [Kaija Saariaho]\n \nGiovanna Sevi /// is an Italian violinist based in Paris. Born in 1999\, she pursued her studies at the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique de Paris\, the Accademia Nazionale di Santa Cecilia in Rome and the Koninklijk Conservatorium in Ghent.\nAt the heart of her artistic project lie contemporary creation and dialogue with composers. She collaborated with the Ensemble Intercontemporain\, Musikfabrik\, L’Itinéraire\, and Ictus\, and with composers like Georges Aperghis\, Marco Stroppa\, George Benjamin\, Beat Furrer\, Stefano Gervasoni.Laureate of the Lucerne Festival\, she has performed as a soloist at Manifeste Festival (IRCAM\, 2025)\, Festival Présences (Radio France\, 2026)\, Impuls Festival (Graz\, 2025)\, Festival Propagations (Marseille\, 2024)\, Mixtur Festival (Barcelona\, 2024)\, Blurred Edges Festival (Hamburg\, 2026)\, Meridian Festival (Bucharest\, 2024)\, Festival Messiaen aux Pays de la Meije (La Grave\, 2024).
